A Scanner Darkly?

On British TV news (sky) today there was a report that Stephen Soderberg and George Clooney are to produce a movie based on PKD's novel 'A Scanner Darkly' as soon as 'Oceans Twelve' is finished and that the star of the movie is to be (wait for it) Keeanu Reeves. Also mentioned is the fact that the movie is to be partly animated but that may refer to cgi.
Could someone reassure me that my favourite Dick novel is not about to become 'Matrix+Mary Poppins' or whatever.

unfortunately it is, starring keanu reeves and directed by richard linklater, to be done in his "waking life" photo/animation style, will PKD's books ever be done right with the exception of BR?

Thanks anon7. I must show my ignorance and ask you to enlighten me..........Who is this Linklater (afraid I've never heard the name) and what is this style of animation? All of a sudden I feel I have been missing something!

Yeah, this Keanu idea certainly sucks.
