My name is Tom and have been a fan of the BR scene since the mid 80s. I hang around quite a few different movie prop boards and was directed to this one by a fellow fan. I didn't know this fine board was in place here!!! Thanks Treybor!!!

I see a few familiar names and am looking forward to getting (re)acquanted with you all.

I've got a lot of projects in the works right now and eventually want to get the Deckard gun on the workbench. In the mean time, I would like to kick back and see what is going on in this fine establishment.

hey tommin hows it goin welcome to the board i too am a prop guy i have a blaster that i need to finish a few guys have the CS blaster im quite jealous of them but i know i'll get one, one of these days

I think a 1:1 scale version would be nice. Don't forget to include full functionality and the exact pressure per square inch those manipulators can exert. After you're done with the Powerloader, you'll have to build yourself a Queen to throw out of a spaceship.

Hey Tommin, very impressed with what I saw.

I once bought a very expensive model/statue of an Alien (sadly, I can't post pics). It's big, about 75 cm, and was supposedly made by one of the model builders from the movie Aliens. In the store (some collector store) I could chose out of different models. The simple Alien model. An Alien guarding an egg and an Alien Queen (mostly impressive and huge!). All the models stand on a airbrushed platform with typical Giger motifs. I went home with the simple model (meaning: no egg).
After a few years one of his arms fell off. The glue couldn't hold the arm attached to the shoulder. The finger and foot nails also came clean off. I don't know which material my Alien is made of but I remember that a mold was used, or so they shop owner said. I remember that because he told me, the artist who made them, would each time break the mold after he made 10 (or 20) statues.
Now I would like to ask you the following: Can and should I repair the Alien myself? Or is it better to give it to some expert and pay lots of money (not to mention risking further damage because of transportation)?

If you trust yourself with the task, drill a hole in the shoulder 'socket' where the arm used to be and also in the shoulder joint of the arm. You'll first need to find some sort of metal object you can use as a pin to hold the two pieces together. You may need more than one hole and pin.

It's an option, but remember, you can easily screw it up.

And yes, my drawing is very crude. The batteries for my digital pen are all the way upstairs.
