Tyrell Lying.
Im new this board but not to Blade Runner
In the game, Lance and Luther, tow reps who worked for Tyrell said it was possible to expand the lifespan. However the life span is integrated into every part of the body. So I think Tyrell was lying a bit because he thought living too long would create a problem.
