I just love this movie. This and Dick Tracy.
------
William Gibson, author of Neuromancer among others. Part of the inspiration for Blade Runner as I understand it.
------
DADOES may have been inspired by Gibson's book, but I'm not familiar with the author.

I met Frank a couple years ago in Hew Haven, CT. I was at a bar with some friends, and he was sitting by himself doing the same thing we were doing - waiting for his gig at a club a couple of blocks away. I had the batender put his drink on our tab. When he went to pay and was told it was covered, he came over to talk with us for a few minutes. For someone with such twisted lyrics, he's an amazingly nice and gracious guy.

As a result of the conversation, I read Robert Zubrin's "The Case For Mars", which (unknown to me at the time) is referenced in the song "Robert Onion". (In a pretty cool way, I might add). Not surprisingly, Frank seems to be a big fan of both science and science fiction.

I have never had the good fortune of seeing either Frank Black & the Catholics, or the Pixies before they broke up. He does post on FB.net, sometimes, tho. Seems like a pretty nice guy.

FB & TC are one of my favorite bands, alongside Failure, Tool, and Underworld.

BTW, has any one of youse guys ever heard Failure? "Fantastic Planet" is their most well known and best album, made in 1996. (They have been broke up for awhile, but the lead singer is now in a pretty decent band called Year of the Rabbit.) Failure had some sci-fi inspired lyrics, like their song "Solaris" which was about the original version of the Russian film. (I've only seen the recent George Clooney remake, which was pretty God-awful) They write one song, called "Another Space Song" which is solely about the wife from Solaris being jettisoned into outer space. It's pretty cool.

Frank goes by the name Frnk Blck, under the heading "The King Holds Court." It was funny; no one believed him when he said it was really him for quite some time. However, he hasn't posted for awhile, I don't know if he will any time soon.
