the game style is still unknown, which also means we dont nkow which engine yet.

i'd love to help out with that LEGO movie. we gotta drop this MOD post for now though and come back later.

about the LEGO movie (of the BR game): lets do a test scene like someone suggested, and see how that goes. we can try that "opening sequence" part where Ray flies around to the police HQ, since that uses almost no people and lots of buildings. i think the buildings will be the hardest part, which is why if this sequence works out, then the whole movie will work out.

as for patryk: do yo u have the script done ? if you havent worked on it a lot, i'll be very very happy to do the script. it'll be my first.

I have a question - do we build everyting in LEGO (virtual) or can we model buildings normally and give them LEGO textures?

Patryk what are your plans for the scenery? Did you intend to build everything from LEGO or are you just creating the main characters and vehicles in LEGO and putting them in front of a backdrop?

How much animation do you intend to do for the characters? Do they walk?

Here's a big question - if we do the whole thing on a computer, do we need to keep the LEGO motif at all? I'm only asking the question, I'm not suggesting we drop the LEGO...

If this project does get going, perhaps I should move this discussion into a separate forum (private/hidden) as way of keeping a 'progress diary' for our own benefit - what do you think?

yeah, patrick's website would be good for the forum postings, seeing how its going to be the "reporting" point for progress, that can be a lot of stress on the bladezone server.

patryk: u got forums on your website, or can you add them ?

I had a forum but the server crashed and it's been messed up. In that case I've to make it work right now.

I've just created two forum's under a new category of 'projects' - currently they are visibile and anyone can post, but I can make them invisible and restrict reading/posting to match our needs...

Wilkins REP-DETECT: i decided on the Q2 engine because its old, theres lots of tools avalible for it nowdays, and Q2 runs on much older hardware. not wvereyong has a P4 64 MB gfx card to play UT 2003, (i dont). Q2 runs fast on newer hardware, which means we can have more stuff with less lag or slowdowns or loading time. Q3 might also be good, ill have to check that out.

also, Q2 is open-source now...i just love open source :-) (which is why i also use linux)

I've often thought about a Blade Runner MOD for GTA: Vice City, a game where you'd play from the replicanbt's POV.

Instead of normal cops' you'd have 2019 cops, instead of the Starsky & Hutch type cops, you'd get blade runners, and instead of Helicopters, you'd get spinners.

The GTA3 engine would brilliantly support the crouded city what would be needed for a Blade Runner eniviroment (plus all the rain)

well, right now i've kinda postponed the mod project. im working with patryk and B26354 on the blade runner lego movie. find more about the movie at www.titanpictures.com and titanpictures.com/chitchat

after the movie though, im coming back to this mod. ive never seen or played GTA, or any of the newer ones, so i'll have to check it out. it sounds reasonable though. i have a few questions for the GTA engine:
1: is it first person, or 3rd person, or both ?
2: whats the system requirements ?
3: is there levels with plots ?

the reason i ask #3 is kinda dumb, but from what i've heard about the GTA series, its just a plotless game with tons of violence. ive never seen GTA, just to remind you guys.

and how about the Deus Ex game ? it works on fairly good system requirements, has the same features of GTA, supports all the people running around, rain, and spinners. Deus Ex also has "helicpoters" and lots of people and BIG BIG cities, and rain. it is also based on the Unreal engine.

1. 3rd person
2. Quite high, I believe. GTA3 will run slowly on anbout a p700, though.
3. Basically, GTA3 is a living, breathing city, where in you'd go to people in that city for jobs. Vice City expanded on this greatly, and gives a great sence of freedom. Any car you see, you can drive. And plane you see (in Vicy City), you can fly. Both feature just the kind of engine that would support tons to people on screen at once, needed for a true Blade Runner game.

K, I was just curious. Quake III would be awesome because the engine is still capable of creating some damn pretty visuals (look at Star Trek Elite Force II).
