I liked it - a cross between Blade Runner and Ghost-in-the-Shell?

Oh, I hope I've not mislead anyone there - I haven't seen GITS for ages - I may have got it mixed up with Akira, which I've just got on DVD...

Anyway, Metropolis is still a great movie.

Speaking of Anime, has anyone seen Spirited Away?

I think it won an oscar for best animation this year. Is it an anime? I'm not entirely sure! :?

Anymore info on it? I'm wondering whether to see it at the cinema or not. I've heard it's a bit of a kiddie film. :?

Hey, I found my old thread back from 2001! Thought I bring it out of "retirement" for our new memeber (like Rainman) to check out and comment.

metropolis

it's a great time to be talking about Fritz Lang's 1926 Metropolis since it has already been digitally remastered, just two years ago I think. They also tried to restore the missing scenes by adding still photos and narration inter-titles. I saw a special screening on the big screen and i now have the DVD. It definitely was and still is very influentital. I wouldn't know to what extent the creators of Bladerunner were influenced and inspired, but i would think there must have been somehow. Was there?

Metropolis is a masterpiece!!!

I have the 2004 remastered version by Kino films on DVD.

Over the years I have found that syncing the following Radiohead albums in order with this movie(volume of movie turned down) is a very trippy experience!

OK Computer (1997)

Kid A (2000)

Amnesiac (2001)
