Harrison Ford and Blade Runner

Hey I have heard alot of people saying that HR had alot of bad experiences making this movie what exactly were they?

Harrison had a lot of issues about Ridley's direction of the character 'Deckard'. The biggest being that Ridley always wanted Deckard to be a replicant from the very beginning and Harrison wanted him to be human.

There's more to it than that - I suppose you'd call it a clash of personalities...

You really must get the book 'Future Noire: the Making of Blade Runner' by Paul M Sammon - it will answer every question that you may have about the movie and is considered the Blade Runner 'bible' around here and everywhere...

well lets see i dont have my copy of Future Noir handy like i should so im gonna go from memory here. at first ford really liked working with ridley but that was before he understood what a ridley scott schedule was. it was 12 hour days and countless reshooting of the same scene from every possible angle also it seems that ford was unhappy with the script he was quoted as saying "I was a detective who did no detecting." so a combonation of all those things lead to ford's dislikeing of Blade Runner but fortunatly ford has chnged hiss perspective on the movie and has come to terms so to speak with ridley if anyone else has more stories or needs to correct me please do

Ford also disliked Sean Young for some reason. Again, I think it was a personality clash. That's probably why the love scene turned into more of a hate scene. She didn't get on well with him either.
I also have 'future noir'.

Aaah, the differencies between humans and reps... *sigh*

I remember reading that Sean Young didnt like BR either, especially the apartment scene where Deck throw her against the wall and says "Say you'll Kiss me"
She said she had about 2 weeks off work after that.
But then again on her website she shows off a pic of her as Rachel.

But then she said she likes the scene when Deckard tells her the truth about her arteficial origin and she cries. And her tears are real!

So I think that she doesn't have bad memories on BR in general, just perhaps on that unpleasant scene with Ford. But actor's work is sometimes unpleasant.

she was only 18 at the time !

Eh, are you sure? The imdb says she was born at 20 Nov 1959, so she was
22 or 23 during the shooting.

Yeah, Harrison was annoyed that Ridley would give pointers on how to act to the other characters but gave no support to Herrison himself. He also didn;t like the constant pedantic retakes, and he thought (along with many others) that Ridley was more of a directing machine than a human being.

He didn't get on with Sean. Partly because he was an experienced actor and she wasn't. Therefore he got frustrated at her lack of prefessionalism. He also just didn;t like her personality I guess.

I never did like it when Deckard manhandles Rachael. I didn't think it worked for the scene. It ruins the nice relaxed, loving atmosphere that's been built up up till that point.

I got Future Noir a few days ago. I've almost read all of it. It truly is a brilliant source of BR trivia and info that any fan should own.

Well, Scott has been making TV commercials before. In TV commercials actors have no freedom of expression and space for improvisation whatsoever. They are reduced to the status of director's puppet.
Call it "professional deformation". Scott has learned a lot about respecting actor's needs and their contribution to the story years later...

I think Scott had a reputation of being a bit of a "shouter". By that I mean that he ordered his actors around quite alot. He's probably calmed down a bit since then.

Harrison definately has mellowed on BR in the last several years, though it still seems like most people dont acknowledge that he was in the movie (like when he got his AFI Lifetime Achievement award and they didnt even fuckin mention Blade runner)
