Blade Runner copied again!

To anyone out there who has subjected themselves to Attack of the Clones...........

Is it just me, or does nightfall on Coruscant look suspiciously Blade Runner-esque if not deliberate rip-off? What with all the neon, especially during the scene where the senator's assassin is talking to Jango Fett on her comm-link while standing on the ledge.....or even when Obi-Wan and Anakin are questioning said assassin in the alley behind the bar?

Any one concur?

Of course we all know that George Michael's "Freeek" video is an obvious tribute to Blade Runner.

S'funny 'cos I've just seen the Evanescence music video "Bring me to life" and I can't help thinking that the video director has been 'inspired' by the final Roy/Deckard scenes in Blade Runner.

Anyone else seen it?

i wouldnt call it a rip off i rather liked seeing that type of cityscape i would personally consider it however a somewhat misguided homage

Granted, I'm not necessarily attacking LucasFilm for the Coruscant images in episodeII, tripe that it was. But he couldn't have chosen better background imagery to pay homage to.

And what about that Spice Girls video where they were flying above a dark futuristic city... what was its name...?
Ah, forget it, they're dead anyway. Good for them.

I'd never noticed that before... but I see what you mean, it is rather Bradbery-esq.

Yeah, it's not exactly 'futuristic' but the dark buildings, neon signs and the camera angles used to film the lead singer scaling the outer walls do give it a 'Blade Runner' feeling.

The Dark Knight: the 'Spinner in Coruscant' is also covered in the 'Star Wars / Blade Runner Tie In' link that I posted earlier.

Not a dig, just pointing that out :)

I'd forgotten all about 'I, robot' - I think did mention it in a newsletter once or it might have been in the Bladezone newsbar...

...anyway thanks for reminding me about it.

Ah, no it wasn't, it was Paycheck which is still in the early stages...
