Hello!
I just joined this fan club today (Friday 7th June 2002) and I'd like to congratulate the staff, well done.

Right the real reason I am posting is to ask a question. I only saw Blade Runner last Sunday night because it was on Channel 5 (English TV). That was the Director's Cut and I have heard there are a few differences between that one and the 1982 original. I was wondering, could somebody here tell them to me. Cheers!

Also, it was such an amazing film. The sweeping landscapes of 2019 Los Angeles were amazing. The music was also amazing, suiting the film perfectly. It is now my favourite film of all time, replacing A.I. which was there.

Great that you've seen the light! (Or should that be the Noir?)

The main differences between the Original Version and the Director's Cut are:
1: OV has a voiceover by Deckard - enforced by the studio.
2: OV has a a tacked-on happy ending (Deckard and Rachael riding into the countryside - taken from The Shining) - again, enforced by the studio.
3: The significant unicorn dream sequence that was taken out of the OV by studio insistenece was back in. As this ties to the unicorn origami, it is important, (although as some of us will insist, not that important!)

The DC is not the real DC as it was hurriedly created, Scott was for the most part not directly involved and didn't realise that two separate updates were being prepared, etc. Anyway, if you would like more info, there is plenty on BladeZone and other sites, and you can check the Blade Runner FAQ for the in-depth details.
Whilst others of us merely have a bit of a taste every once in a while , granted there was a period in which BR and reality kind of intersected, but hell, you can't have exams on the same movies over and over agains...... can you?

Paul

I remember my first reaction to the movie when viewed on VHS back in the 80's was "WOW! This is AMAZING!". Now all these years later, even after seeing it countless times - my reaction's still the same.
