Blimps make a comeback

I know the Good Year blimp is still in service as is its counterparts, But blimps have always been one of the coolest craft ever, as well as being part of early Science Fiction like 'Metropolis' and 'Things to Come'. I could imagine a BR type world with blimps being used for all kinds of uses and here is an example of a new real world blimp comeback as executive office.

Except I think the builders of the zeppelins were critical of Hitler.

And furthermore, the Zeppelin has been back for about 10 years now...

If I ever make it to Europe one of the things on my "must do" list is a trip to Friedrichshaven, DE for a ride on a Zeppelin NT.
Yes, I really live in Los Angeles. Srsly. And yeah, life really does imitate art here. Especially now we've got those video billboards. No spinners yet. But I suppose that's next.

I've been there several times and visited the Zeppelin Museum. I saw some zeps flying over Lake Constance(The Bodensee). But, reserve yer ride now, `cause the last I heard, the waiting list was more than 1 yr.

Also, I'd like to add...
Some of mankind's greatest achievements/inventions were founded during times of chaos/war. Of course, I wish inventers would push their creativity just as hard under peaceful circumstances. Don't get me wrong... many horrific things came about during wartime, as well.

Did you know that, it was Hitler who created (or at least approved) what was known as The Peoples' Car for the general public back when there were only a couple cars total available to Germans. It's more commonly known as the Volkswagon. Don't know what opinion anyone may have of this car, but back then, it was very economical and reliable. Many Americans (alot of hippies) used to drive them, when the engine was still in the rear and trunk in the front, for the very same reasons.
Sure, Adolph Hitler was an A$sh0le... just thought I'd mention it since it was on-topic.
Oh BTW, the original V.W. could float

Not a great movie, but you gotta love the blimp docking at the top of the Empire State Building in the opening sequence of Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow.

I read somewhere that the building was designed with that in mind, before the Hindenburg disaster.
