Blade Runner: The Final Cut

pleasure is all mine, guys. this sort of news surprised the hell out of me. i would never have thought about a possible reshoot of a scene. the thing, what exactly is being reshot? there's debate whether it's the stunt double shots when zhora is getting shot or the famous unshot dance sequence. my best guess and hopes are the dance sequence because honestly, i find the stunt double shots to be quite trivial and they have never brought displeasure to my viewing.

i think it's only a matter of time (i mean weeks, not months) before we really get the lowdown of this dvd.

That's good to hear, especially if they are doing reshoots with an actor, rather than scene edits on a computer. So at least I know the film will make an appearance again eventually. I just wish there was a time-table because I/We, have waited so long for this DVD. One can only be patient for so long...

so there is actual reshooting going on !! this must be a first ?? reshooting on a 25 year old movie.

We can only guess for now wat they must be doing makes for interesting thought, to be honest i was never bothered about some snake dance there are far more important things need reshooting than that and reshooting her death scene is only really good for getting rid of the stunt double cos i always have to warn my friends who i show it to not to eye up her butt when she tumbles cos its a bloke

Can they really get away with reshooting a scene with an actor who has aged 25 years, i am sure she still looks great but still no one escapes time !!

Actually, that would go to 2001, which was an extremely boring film. That being said, it's still a masterpiece from an aesthetic standpoint and it should be viewed for it's visuals and message.

I would request that we keep the bashing of one of Stanley Kubrick's most amazing films ever (not to mention one of the most influential sci-fi movies, ever) off this message board. Considering this thread is about the Blade Runner SE DVD, perhaps we should stick with that.

i finally got to see On the Edge of Blade Runner and they should have that on the dvd even though they're doing new interviews. it was a good and entertaining special, rutger hauer stole the show for me....funny guy.

i used to watch blade runner all the time, but with this new dvd coming out...i've restrained myself from seeing the new transfer of the director's cut and wait for the final cut. since i havent seen the movie in months, not sure how long i could hold out.

Suffice to say, don't stop watching the movie. It will only enhance your excitement for the new one.

Bashing? I was merely stating what any conscious viewer can recognize. That is, that 2001 is a deep and beautiful film. It's only detraction is that it's boring. I would say most people would agree with that. That's not bashing that's the truth.

Anyway, has there been any sort of rough release date that's been mentioned at any point? I sometimes wonder if this whole wait is all for nothing and that we're not even getting a Final Cut.

I would admit that 2001 is very slow moving, but not really boring. Maybe if you aren't interested in the visuals it would also be very non-engaging, I guess this could be concluded as "boring" to most. I still can watch it very enthralled by it. I do find that I have to turn down my mental processor to watch the slower moving films in order to get the most from them. I too can have a desire to get as much info as fast as possible and get out. I think a lack of patience seems to be a common epidemic of our imediate gratification and multi tasking culture.

And here, thanks to somebody who must remain anonymous, are details of what was changed. The shots are for the sequence in which Cassidy's character Zhora is chased through the streets. In the original film, the chase shows Zhora in flat boots but previously we saw her put on heels - the reshoots feature heels; the control wires for the squib that released Zhora's blood was previously visible - not any longer; a wound make-up that was missing in some angles is now in place; Zhora gets a second shot in the chest now, whereas she didn't before; the lighting is much improved; several new angles have been taken and, depending on the edit, the sequence could end up looking rather different overall

As for the re-shoot stuff, that sounds GREAT! But are we getting the snake dance or not? That's what I'm wondering.
