I can see where you're coming from. They share some similarities, but not really enough.

Actually, there are a few older circular towers in the L.A. area. The closest in resemblance of the time was a Holiday Inn off one of the freeways (405 I think)

It is interesting that most people miss the idea that the only major pyramid in CA is in PKD's town of San Francisco...where Dadoes occurs.

All things considered though, Blade Runner should take place in Las Vegas. It not only has the lights and the big glass pyramid, it also would be a more likely survivor of a nuclear war.

There are many buildings in LA which were designed after Blade Runner and which seem to at least be partially inspired by the movie.

The most impressive one is actually the Caltrans Building, right across the street from City Hall. It was designed by the Morphosis architecture firm, and is partially skinned with photovoltaic cells that provide 5% of the power for the building. It is also liberally shot through with neon.

I should put the US Bank/Library Tower (it is right next to the Central Library, hence the name) on the LA Tour I put together. Now that I discovered this thread I can see the resemblance, and perhaps a bit of homage as well. Incidentally the building was built as the First Interstate Bank building. Long after the bank got sold it still had the old logo.
