Blade Runner MACHINIMA?

Do any of you know of any Blade Runner-based Machinima out there? Has anyone ever done anything like that? I think it might be a really cool idea, and I'd love to see any work that has already been made (if there is any)... If not, maybe we'll have to make our own?

Some people make a CGI movie sidequel, another decided to go with LEGO movie... But I never heard about BR movie in one of game engines. It would demand muuuch much work, I suppose. Textures and skins and all...

There was a guy a while back who created a Blade runner themed map for Unreal Tournament 2003.

Also someone over at the Atari/Unreal forums is trying to create a better version of the map for Unreal 2004.

You can download it in a form of DivX videoclip at:

All I can say is, "WOW!" We could make some machinima in that map for sure. All we need are some character models to go with the map. Freakin' awesome, thanks for posting that info.

Actually that lego concept is skipped a long time ago.
And guess what, we did want to do it in machimina way.
I've been lucky to find out about a upcomming game from the makers of Black And White.
They are developing a game which enables you to make your own movies with.
although each included scene in that game in pre-derternimed, but there will be alleast a thousand of them, and (the devs promised) there will be sdk tools, that will allow import mesh geometry in to the game as well.
Besides, there seems to be a big community who awaits for that game and would try to mod it. (only if that will be posible)

No we would like to give this a try and see how far we can go with it.

btw, that game is called , The Movies

good luck finding people ;-) the titan pictures movie considdered using mechinima for a while, but i think that idea was abandoned. my whole blade runner mod forum went useless after about 2 years. it was a forum to discuss mine and other's ideas for a blade runner game mod. if you plan on doing one, good luck, youll need it.

Let's be encouraging...shall we? I thinks it's a splendid idea! With the right people involved, and the chemistry works...the passion for such an endeavour will fuel the project, not luck.

Cheers!

The textures would be easy.... laying out a decent map would be challenging....Creating custome brushes (spinners, vehicles, etc. would be the most difficult part.

i know what goes into a cgi fan production (a small one at least). i was part of the titan pictures one for a long time, and people just quit. im sure it will get off the ground, but completed? not unless you've got a big crew or a lot of time on your hands. i'd love a blade runner mechinima if it was done correctly and not just thrown together. and finding people to help out is a hard thing to do, patryk and them are still trying to recruit people for the titan pictures project, and when i last left a few months ago, they havent gotten any new members to help with anything. i'd love to be encouraging, but i dont want to see someone start something, put a year and a half of their life into it, and not let it get anywhere.

just a little advice before you do start, i wouldnt actually begin modeling and texturing until you have at *least* 10 guys working as modeling, and 3 guys collecting and making textures. with a team this big, hopes and motivation will be high and you could be done in a few months with a story and all. ill help on story and general input if you ever decide to get started.

I have only been working with the blade runner chronicle for a little over a year and a half. Work is slow...but it hasn't stopped. And i'm the one doing all the primary CG. The problem is that all of this stuff takes time and peoples attention spans aren't what they used to be. Also, everyopne's priorities are different. What may be mportatnt to some will not be as important to others.

The real keys:

1. Motivation
2. Workload
3. Rewards

If you're missing any of these then your project is doomed to be either very long, or very dead....

The problem is that he has not released the map. I spoke to him in another forum and he gave up on that project. The only map that has been released is the BR2019 for UT2003. He says his teaser was designed to show what could be done with the UT2003 ad UT2004 Cinematic tools.

I actually got the map from them last October and extracted the textures that would work in the fan film. The map itself is a lot more primative thanthe cinematics that Hennu created, but some of the details inthe map are VERY good!

I've built unreal maps before. The engine is not so difficult to use as it is to learn all the ins and outs of the special effects. I found a tutorial on the web on how to create custom models and import them into the game, but I haven't tried it yet.

Well, I wasn't really proposing that I'd take on anything like a machinima project. I was asking if anyone had done one already because I'm a big machinima fan. However, if I were to do one, I'd actually go more along the lines of the "just thrown together" option because finishing SOMETHING is always better than having nothing (IMHO). I personally would tend to focus more on the screenwriting and voice acting than the modeling for something like this. But if I were to create something, it'd be on the cheap, short, and sweet, without a lot of concern for getting it perfect. It would be done solely for fun, it'd be a different story if I were getting paid to do it. :)

Something with the depth and insight of Deus Ex or Deus Ex 2 (where all your actions have consequences on game play), but set in the Blade Runner universe....and using the latest game engine.... Now that would be cool!

patryk and them are still trying to recruit people for the titan pictures project

not at this moment, all we need to know is being sure that the engine we choose is really going to be so flexible to add custom content to it as that the developers team had promised.

however, we still looking so get some fine voice actors.
