BLADE RUNNER soundtrack - 4disc special edition

I'm now the site rookie. Just joined after 20+ years as a BR fan.

Yesterday I received the special edition 4cd disc soundtrack - kind of like getting my hands on the Holy Grail! Does anyone else have it?
It has all the music and sound cues from the film in cd quality sound - it is a must for all BR/Vangelis fans!

Hope to hear from some of you soon.
Thanks for listening,

Paul.

Did you buy it off ebay from the seller esper_productions?
If so that is one heck of a CD set you have there my friend,

If you did buy this from esper_productions then you are the only one in the world who has a copy - well besides esper_productions
Just curious - How much did you end up paying for it? :?:

Yes I did buy it on ebay from esper_productions. There was only one other competing buyer but I was so determined I just went all out for it! I would rather not reveal the price if that is ok. However, if what you say is accurate then I am one very happy and honoured human being!

WOW!
Thanks for listening,

Paul.

Although I don't think it's an official Blade Runner CD, the original Esper Edition CD (Known as the MK2) released by esper_productions is considered to be one of the best versions of the Blade Runner CD ever, having the highest and best sound quality out of all the bootlegs ever produced.
Now there is the MK4 edition which you now have that includes the original songs off the MK2 edition plus another 2 CD's worth.

If I were you I'd keep this CD in safe hidden behind a painting in your house with an electronic key card to open it using a pin number which changes every half hour

Would you be able to list all the songs?

There?s been great deal of discussion on the Blade Runner Soundtrack Yahoo group about the ?new? Esper editions that have popped up on eBay in the last few months. First of all, let me say, if you are happy with your purchase and enjoy the product, then read no further, the disk is valuable to you and I hope you get an amount of pleasure from it equal to what you paid for it. If you are wondering about the collectability or relative value of this particular piece - Here is what I know:

The piece was not made by the same folks who produced the original Esper releases. The eBay seller using the handle ?Esper_Productions? has nothing to do with the folks who put out the original Esper discs. It seems a little disingenuous to imply a connection with Esper Productions when none exists. The original Espers where a very limited fan-release just sent to a few hardcore fans with no money changing hands. Digital copies have been freely circulated and with a little effort you can easily find a copy.

The source material on one of the ?new Esper? disks was examined for digital compression artifacts by a member of the BR Soundtrack Yahoogroup. He published the results: nearly every one of the tracks had a near certainty of being derived from an MP3. (so much for the claim of ?pristine CD quality?)

Some of the supposedly ?new? Vangelis mixes of film cues are highly dubious. The tracks I have examined in detail are not derived from the original Vangelis performances. These were most likely copied performances recorded by another artist.

With a large body of willing traders and the widespread availability of these tracks, there is no reason to spend hundreds of dollars for a release that someone has most likely freshly burned on their home computer from tracks that they themselves have downloaded.

God I hate it when people try to sell and make money off of bootlegs. I mean bootlegs were meant to be traded and enjoyed because they aren't available for actual purchase in the marketplace, they aren't meant to be manufactured for profit. I say make a new rip of it (OMG, how many re-encodes is that now? LOL!), bundle it up into a nice .zip or .rar archive, and post a torrent of it. Screw those bootleggers at their own game!!!

Mk3 soundtrack

Thanks everyone for your comments and interest.
As one of you has mentioned, there is now a flurry of activity about this version on the Yahoo forum and today I have challenged the seller to argue his case and respond to some of the (negative, suspicious) feedback I've had from forum contacts.
So far no response as yet.
We await a response.
I am gladdened by the interest I have received from the BR community and hope that this first entrance to the BR household has made me more friends than adversaries.
Thanks for listening,

Paul.

Mk 3 - an offer to uk members

I have decided that there is only one way to sort out the issue of the validity of this 'new' version. If anyone in the uk with the capability of 'sharing' this with others wants to meet me then I will gladly come over and we can copy to others.

I cannot be any fairer than that.

Paul.
Thanks for listening,

Paul.

RESPONSE FROM SELLER OF THE MK 3 SOUMDTRACK

Hi Guys,
Here is the response from Dave who was the ebay seller of the 'Special Esper Collectors Edition' BR soundtrack:

Hello Paul

I have just read your emails and have the following comments:

First of all people seem to have entitled it the ?MK3? which can I correct
people in saying that it isn?t. It does not say MK3 on any of the CDs or
covers. It is the Definitive Collectors Edition of the Esper Edition.

I can assure you that the music is not sourced from mp3 bootlegs. From what
I have gathered the MK2 and the Definitive Collectors Edition are all based
on the original Esper Edition that was not sourced from mp3 either. Then
the MK2 and the Definitive Collectors Edition have been edited to ?improve?
on the previous version, just like Ridley Scott did to the movie when he
brought out his Director?s Cut.

Vangelis did not release all his music so the Esper Editions are a chance
for people to hear it unofficially in the best way possible. The original
Esper Edition, the LA Nov 2019 CD, the MK2 and Collectors Edition are all
made my Esper Productions.

I start bidding at 1p and then it is up to whoever bids to make the end
price. It can go for 1p or not sell at all ? that is up to eBay buyers.
Club Compilations ? I don?t know what is meant by that. I have sold other
rare promo CDs in the past if that is what is meant.

I am not a member of any blade runner forum. This forum that you a member
of can investigate the Collectors Edition as much as they like. To me they
just sound bitter about not owning a copy. I must point out that I
regularly do CD-r copy trades with members of a soundtrack site where we
exchange scores. I am not the kind of person to rip people off and if
anyone had contacted me for a cd-r copy of the Definitive Esper Edition then
I would have done it. However, reading the comments these people have
written it makes me sad to hear people are like this so I do not think I
will make any cd-r copies of this particular set. It will obviously make
your copy all the more rare and collectable and I am glad that you are happy
with it and proud to own such a rare item. I share all my rare music to
anyone who can offer me something in return, in the way of cd-r trades. Eg.
Lets say that you have a copy of Blade Runner MK10  and I want a
copy. I would then contact you to see if you would trade with me. Lets say
that you wanted the Deck Art release of Blade Runner that I had, then we
could set up a trade. I am also a member of a score forum. where people can
join and share the score CDs that they have with the world through
downloading. I have released a few scores, one of them being Blade Runner
Deck Art release that cost me quite a lot of money (over ?100) but I am
sharing it so that people can get it free. That is the kind of person I am.

In regards to your email RE: Thinking of Rachel ? only the Esper Edition,
Esper MK2 and Definitive Collectors Esper Edition feature this track, with
the latter release that you have having the best sound quality bar far.
Esper MK2 and your Collectors Edition are the only Blade Runner CDs to have
the full intro to the film, aka Main Tiles and Prologue, without sound
effects as they are original studio recordings. Yes, my neck hairs stand on
end when listening to it.

Thanks for contacting me Paul and letting me know what people are like. I
do not think I will sell any more 4CD sets of Blade Runner if this is the
reception it gets.

Dave.
Thanks for listening,

Paul.

WTF is the Deck Art version? And anyone who is into BR enough to create something like this certainly knows about BRMovie and probably BladeZone too don't you think? He's probably reading this very thread actually...

"The original Esper Edition, the LA Nov 2019 CD, the MK2 and Collectors Edition are all made my(sic ... I assume you meant 'by') Esper Productions. "

Sorry, I've talked to the folks who made the original Esper releases. They had nothing to do with the MK2 and Collectors Edition and, frankly, are quite perturbed that someone is using their name to hawk discs on eBay.

Are you the person who is using the handle "Esper_Productions" on eBay?
If so, are you claiming that you are Esper Productions?
If so, are you claiming that you produced the original Espers?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then let me suggest that you are not being honest with the folks to whom you are selling.

?Thanks for contacting me Paul and letting me know what people are like. I do not think I will sell any more 4CD sets of Blade Runner if this is the
reception it gets. ?
