Anyone ever see the original Blade Runner Movie on VHS...I

I was curious to see the original that was out on video so I bought a copy from amamzon com for $25.
It was very interesting watching it and seeing the differences the voice overs were kind of weird but it was like putting a different spin on things...
Just curious to what people thought of it as this version had more graphic violence in it..and the ending was cool but cheesy.
The voice over filled in a lot of blanks...like the Deckard said in the beginning his ex wife said he was a cold fish like sushi..and the ending where he and rachel rode off inot the sunset so to speak.

I don't know if I like it better because it was different or what but getting ready to watch it again.

Which do you guys prefer?

I am of mixed opinion...I like some of the voice over while some of it is painfully bad. The "happy ending" never made sense to me..If I recall correctly in the script he was supposed to drive into a desert wasteland. I never understood why people would be going "off world" if there was so much natural land left. I also have no problem with the violence from the "european cut" as it known...it is pretty powerful. It is the version I had seen the most and have a lot of fondness for it, even if it is mostly nostalgia. I do like the sushi quote too.

I think I like the original better (I'm not sure though). At least it's the one that has caused all the commotion. I have absolutely no problem with the voice over. It adds to the film noir feel of the movie. The "Happy Ending" is a little awkward but I definitely don't like the unicorne scene in the DC. And who knows, maybe I'll like the SE cut better, once it's out!

i prefer the DC. maybe if the voiceovers were done over, i'd like the DC version with the voice over (no happy ending, unicorn scene included)

Yeah I liked the Voice Over movie myself really...It gave it a real gumshoe kind of feel to the movie and didn't really hinder anything about the film. I was rather surprised Ridley was so opposed to it...but after all...he is the director. The happy ending might have been a tad over done...but I lothed the unicorn dream in the DC...It really didn't belong there in my opinion. I pretty much got the point of the moment when he came out and saw the silver unicorn wrapper...that added dream sequence seemed more of an insult to me then the voice over ever did.

If the SE does come out...I hope it has both versions much like his Legend SE did.

I love naration. I picked up a copy of the one on vhs(voiceover, extra violence, happy ending) for $5-7. I have seen it for more so I got a good deal.

I prefer the real movie, the original from 1982 :D
The DC for me feels... manipulated to give it a twist at the end with the unicorn dream, and becouse of that scene saying that Deckard is a rep him self, crappy :|
