Hi, my boss has set us a film related quiz to win mega goodies (i work at a cinema). Now i like BR, but am not a nut like you guys, so could you help with this question please?

Blade Runner has had two other films spliced into it for the original release and the directors cut. What were the films and in which version of the film?
Well, the 'happy ending' tacked on the end of the original 'theatrical' version consisted of out-takes from Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining'.

So that's one of the films.

But a second movie?

Sometimes people mistake the unicorn scene in the Director's cut as being from 'Legend' also by Ridley Scott, but that's incorrect, the unicorn scene was shot specifically for Blade Runner.

Oh, I know, I forgot that the computer displays from the movie 'Alien' also by Ridley Scott, were used in both versions of Blade Runner in the first Spinner take-off sequence.

So, there you go:

Out-take footage from 'The Shining' in the 'theatrical' version and the computer take-off sequence displays (not really footage) from 'Alien' appeared in both releases of the movie.

If you really want to show off, tell your boss that an incomplete model of the Millenium Falcon (from Star Wars) was used as a building and that the top of the LAPD HQ building was based on the underside of the space-ship from 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'.

And this doesn't count, but the hospital scene, that was shot but didn't appear in either version, contains parts of the set from 'Alien'. Which also became part of Deckard's kitchen. Still doesn't count.

Anyone else?

_________________

Richard Gunn
News and Content Manager for Bladezone
[email protected]

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2002-08-16 20:22 ]

The only thing that you can be 100% sure of, is that you can't be 100% sure of anything.

let me see...

When I finished reading the question, I thought about all the things my friend already mentioned in his reply, except of the close encounters detail.

So yes, the word "nut" fits.

Revel In Your Time
