Memories of Green

I saw the Ridley Scott film 'Someone to Watch Over Me' this evening. I had heard that he used an orchestral version of the Vangelis cut 'Memories of Green' as underscore for a scene in the film. I had expected that who-ever had scored the film did a re-recording of the cut to fit the particular scene. This particular piece ,however, was very close to the arrangement of the original Blade Runner cue (but obviously not performed by Vangelis.) I watched the credits and discovered that this piece is taken from the New American Orchestra version of the Blade Runner soundtrack.

Yes, that was very awkward hearing Memories Of Green in another Ridley Scott movie. He re-uses music from other movies, and apparently even from his own movies. He used Fever Ride, one of the tracks of The Sheltering Sky (Bertolucci) in a Vangelis scored film 1492: Conquest of Paradise. This and Memories of Green were probably temp tracks.
