I was taken by how similar this cut is to the Directors Cut. It was much closer than I expected.

Things I didn't expect:

Holden voiceover during the flyover of the Hades landscape. This reinforces the idea that the opening sequence represents Holden's journey to the Tyrell Pyramid.

Batty phone booth scene uses the same reversed shot as in the other releases Complete with Tyrell's thumb.

The extra scenes as Deckard makes his way to the Snake Pit Bar. One featuring two dancing girls in a large plastic cylinder. Another a nice wide shot of the street action.

Deckard's extra comment as he removes the photo from the Esper "Zhora or Pris?"

No lip-flap during the Snake Merchant scene.

The extra wide shot of Batty's death scene with the Spinner hovering in the background.

The extended voice-over dialog by Deckard during the Batty death scene.

All-in-all a nice piece, but not as radically different as I was expecting.

I watched it at someones home. It was on a DVD that an acquaintance of mine managed to obtain.

The score on the screening print was not complete at the time this version was assembled. The first half of the film's score is pretty much as it is on the directors cut.

The main differences?:

The 'love' sequence score is completely different.

The Batty/Deckard chase sequence score is taken from other action films. (I've heard some of it comes from the original 'Planet of the Apes')

The 'Tears in Rain' soliloquy uses a John Williams piece as score.

The end music is the same score piece that is used for the initial spinner liftoff.

It sounds like it might have a few cool scenes I would love to see and wonder why they were cut. Especially why the re-edit with the horrible lip flap from the abdul ben hassan and deckard was put in instead??? And gosh I really want to see the girls dancing in the tubes:P

It definately sounds like the work print. I don't have my future noir book handy to compare notes. I think ridley prefered a lot of stuff in the workprint and the DC was as close as they could get without the actual footage from it. If I remember correctly it was a screening of the WP that influenced the creation of the DC in the 1st place, but the only footage they could get of the WP was second or third generation prints that weren't good enough to make copys of...At least without expensive renovation.

i saw the 20th (or 10th) anniversary edition at an old hastings movie store over at my grandma's house. it only cost 59 cents to rent it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was going to rent it and tell them i lost it, and just pay the $20 they charge. i know this would be "stealing" and it would be the only thing ive ever stolen in my life, but it would be worth it.

anyway, i didnt rent it (so sad) cause my grandpa's in the hospital, and i like to spend time there instead of watching tv. i didnt steal it or rent it...i just decided to wait til' the SE DVD comes out, if ever my hopes of the SE dvd have been down, ive been reading about it for about 1 1/2 years now, and its always being delayed.

The version I saw was taken from a video camera from the audience perspective. The picture quality was better than I was expecting and the sound quality was much better than I was expecting. At certain points the camera shifts angle slightly ,which is annoying, but with these type of things you take what you can get and feel lucky to get it.

I'm sure he isn't interested in getting into the DVD burning business, but perhaps I can ask him to video-capture a couple of the scenes unique to this version for sharing with interested fans.
