I just saw the new Star Wars movie. There's a scene where a craft flies into an industrial wasteland area of an overpopulated city. Decaying industrial complexes, random piping, towers spouting flame and an orange haze. Hmmmmmm...... I know I've seen that somewhere before.....

(I have to say it made me wish that a BR special addition would include some new, seperate "extras" of LA 2019's industrial wasteland. There's so much they could do with CG now).
As stated in another thread..
It is interesting in the Blade Runner inspired section, and other areas of the movie that the FX in Blade Runner were so much warmer. Not just a simple CGI vs Model debate but the fact that everything in Blade Runner had a history, with the retrofit technique and known company logos etc. Attack of the Clones was too shiny and new, and that is a problem ILM CGI dept. must work on before Episode 3..though not set in OUR future, the FX need to be dirted down.
I hope they leave Blade Runner alone, apart from wire clean-up.

Although I am not a big fan of Digital Revisionism, I believe Ridley will definitely use CGI to enhance the film's existing scenes, not just editing out some wires. I think a considerable amount of spinner traffic will be added during the flight scenes through the city, the industrial landscape, to the police station, and the journey to Tyrell Corporation and back. Remember, Big Brother is watching, and I think Ridley will expand on that idea using a tasteful amount of CGI. I think this will be the first digitally revised film where the true fans will be amazed, rather than disappointed. I for one, can't wait.
There will ALWAYS be someone dissapointed. I really don't wanna see that "5th-ELEMENT-STAWARS-LIKE" high-traffic airways in LA2019. It seems pretty claer to me that there's a lot of poverty in LA2019, and for those who still remain on Earth, having a spinner of their own should be a high status possesion. So if lots of people have them, I think LA2019 becomes less depressing.

But I like theidea of producing new city landscapes for us to explore the city in the DVD, but just as BONUS stuff, never inserted into the film. I think that "digital revisionism" is a very stupid idea, and hope that Ridley is wise enough to not fall into that.

One of the main lessons of the whole Science Fiction literary genre:

Not everything we can do, we should do.
