BTW, I will be updating that article shortly with some DVD grabs from The Phantom Menace that show the spinner very clearly. ...yeah, really. And when you consider that there ARE two spinner's in the same scene (not shown in the grab) then I would say that the likeness to the LAPD HQ building is too much of a coincidence.

Well, as it was written on the BRmovie page, it really looks like some kind of payback for the usage of MF and Death Star model in BR.

i just discovered this forum and thought i'd add the one thing i can: Rick McCallum states on the Phantom Menace DVD that there are references to Blade Runner in that scene - a nod to the Falcon in BR. it's a great DVD regardless of your opinion of the actual film.

my bad. i just checked and it's John Knoll at 1:34:45. the BR police station is on screen for less than a second, and the spinners are tiny. i wish the homage was more overt (or at least noticable).
