what "top movie list" ISNT blade runner on?

http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/678/678050p4.html

#3 in the scifi genre.

kind of disagree with its placing, but i think the list is a little out of order. batman begins is #2 instead of #1 on the superhero list. spiderman is too far up, not closer to number 1.

although i do love a movie where the villains win (empire strikes back) #1? come on, whos lost is this?

anyway, the topic title is for the rest of the future "top" movies lists you ever find.

I was actually just watching a program on ABC called "My Favourite Film" a few hours ago, and Blade Runner came in at #3 for best movies of all time. The summary they did about the movie was great, all positive feedback from the panel aswell. Here's the link http://www.abc.net.au/myfavouritefilm/top100.htm
And at #96 Back To The Future - I totally disagree with this placing, it should have ranked at least in the top 50, I think it has a great story/plot :?

Also Blade Runner came in at #1 in the top sci fi movies list, http://www.abc.net.au/myfavouritefilm/top10/default.htm

Merry Christmas for those who celebrate! :D

yeah. what made blade runner a flop in the 80's? why is it such a big success now? you think the internet has anything to do with the spread of the information? now that there's more history and backstory behind the actual movie, you think it has become more popular because of the internet?

You are probably right, no one had internet back then to discuss various topics, only local clubs held in schools or at people's houses etc... These days there are millions of fan sites on the the internet, but would you be able to find a club with hundreds of members somewhere in your own town?

Why was Blade Runner a flop in the 80's? - I don't really know, was Blade Runner one of the first science fiction movies based on the future to be released in the 80's? Maybe it was a first look at the future and maybe people didn't really know what to think of it?

from what i have heard about BRs later success is first college midnight movies and then the spread of affordable video tape players as well as television play of the movie...giving people chances to watch the movie more than once. As I have noted before , my first watching of the movie was not so favorable...as well as a lot of critics whom later came back and reversed their opinions of the movie to now include it among their favorites(i.e Siskel and Ebert). It is an Intimate film that does seem to do better on the small screen or on the big screen with people who are willing to stay and talk about it afterward. The movie also had an especially bad first impression from people expecting another "Star Wars" or "Alien", because of Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott.

another good point. ill bet that's more of the reason why its more popular now than ever, not the internet theory (although, the internet does help a lot by communities interacting, making movie recommendations to others, etc...)

let's not forget hindsight.
10 or certainly 20 years after a film's release allows us to see the visionary quality of a film as life in some instances imitates art...
i only watch it now once or twice a year (having watched it at one point once a week for years). BR without end, seems to continue to become less fantasy and more reality with each passing year. those who lavished praise from day one were either tripping or had the depth to appreciate a film well before its time.
i cant think of how many times i have purchsed a cd, listened to it once through and thought 'this sucks,' then after a year or so, somehow popped it back in and thought 'this is the sh*t - what was i thinking?'

"The Top Ten Sexiest Female Robots"

Can you guess who's on that list? Yup, #6 and Rachel "Rosen" (or Tyrell, whichever you prefer)

This isn't a "top list" again, but I didn't want to start a new thread for it. For the intro to the latest Academy Awards, there was a video clip with character montages from movies throughout the years, characters and vehicles ranging from the batmobile and superman to scarface to the terminator. Just inserts of characters and objects from popular movies. I was stoked to see the back to the future delorean, then luke and vader fighting. then superman. but in the end, wow. they included the Blade Runner police HQ and 2 spinners. it's a great movie montage, worth downloading via bittorrent if you can find one. it's just the intro to the Academy Awards. the ceremony itself isn't worth watching, even though they show 4 seconds of blade runner in another montage halfway through.

The AFI doesn't think Blade Runner is worthy for their top 100 list.

Alright everybody, get out your scorecards.

Movie list blade runner isn't on: 1
Movie list blade runner is on: too many to count

Can't believe I had to dig out my dusty old scorecard for "isnt" just for one mark. Sheesh. Such a defeat though.

All the movies listed have a lot of re-watchability.
