Has anybody ever asked Vangelis ...

... about the full and longer version of Blade Runner? He must have seen it at least a couple of times before they changed it into the final first release. Maybe he even scored a couple of scenes that were cut, like atmospheric street scenes, for instance (altough it could have been more of Blade Runner blues). Anyway, I know it's something I definitely would ask Vangelis if I ever should meet him. I also know it's his favorite movie project.

that's a very good question. i wonder how he, personally feels about how BR has evolved. i mean, there's many different version out there and im sure he's seen them all, and he has to have likes/dislikes to each one. i wonder what his favorite is.

I guess " Vangelis Blade Runner" is his most personal one. Remember that he was in clashes with Ridley back in 82 because Ridley wanted to use some music from different authors. As a result, vangelis refused his original compositons to appear on the original movie soundtrack. But he kinda melted 10 years later and released VBR.

Coming to that, the original soundtrack and VBR are the most accessible BR soundtracks for general music. Everything else are either rare collectible limited editions or "fanmade compilations" pretending to be originals.

I mean here's what Vangelis said in a interview:

"I really don't know why but there were apparently some contractual problems, which prevented the release of a soundtrack album. It certainly wasn't anything to do with me, but hopefully there will be a way of releasing it. WEA Records released an album of the music by Jack Elliott conducting the New American Orchestra, a symphonic version of the score, but it's not the original recording version."
