How did you discover Blade Runner?

I first saw Blade Runner in the theater when it was first released. (Yes, I'm that old...
) A friend of the family had seen it and insisted that he take me and my father to see it. And I was spellbound. Seeing Ridleyworld up there on the big screen was pretty awesome, let me tell you.
I ended up seeing it two more times during the original run.
Ten years later, I was lucky enough to catch the Workprint screenings at The Castro Theater in San Francisco. At the time, many of us didn't realize just how special/exclusive being able to see it would be. If I had, I would have tried to catch it again before it left.
It was only after reading the mega-excellent Future Noir book in 1999 that I realized how freakin' lucky I was to see the WP screening.

So I started collecting all his action movies (the fugitive, patriot games, clear and present danger, witness etc.) and I came across Blade Runner, now I had heard of it but I didn't know to much about it, so my friend had a copy of it and I borrowed it. I watched it and actually I stopped in the middle because I really just didn't like it (it was the DC) it made no sense to me. But then strange enough I asked for it for my birthday, and I got it. Then I watched it multiple times and it clicked in what it was all about. I then discovered Future Noir and bought it, and then I came across a original version of blade runner, and here I am today.

What is your story?

P.S. Am I the only one who cannot wait at all for the Blade Runner: SE DVD?

Tim
I acctually dont remember when i saw BR for the first time, im born 1974 so im guessing i saw it somewhere between 1987-1989 i know i didnt like it that much, i think i expected action.
I dont recall when i became a BR fan, dont recall when i acctually understod it and saw the depth of it.
