i was about to say: the directors is an old show, this might have been a long time ago.

but, it might still be under production. i mean, why would the begin something they dont even have the rights to? why would they start and not finish something, and not even try to get it released.

have faith guys, ridley scott will do all he can for us.

Yeah, I guess so, but I don't think it is a high priority thing for him anyway...

Honestly, it's not up to Ridley Scott. Of coarse he wants to do it, this is his signature film. But the rights are not controlled by him.

I'm pretty sure the Special Edition DVD project is long dead now, and everyone has moved on to other things.

Does that mean WE, the fans, can't bring it back to life?

Nope :D

We just need to be persistant.

I'm interested. How could we, the fans, be persistant and revive this project? :D

I started a petition online. Here is the link. http://www.petitiononline.com/B26354/petition.html

It has just over a 1000 signatures now. We're making a fan film, of coarse, to help promote our own work, and the film we all love.

I also send out ten letters a week to Jerry perenchio, C/O univision until I hear that the rights have been released, and the special edition is coming out, I will continue to send the letters. It's just one letter, very polite and resectful, explaining my personal feelings on the matter, or what I know of it.

Also, I am trying to locate a private 35mm copy of the film so we can show it at our local "tampa theater" www.tampatheater.org for free, the only requirement for coming down and viewing the film is signing a real world petition. Once that's in place I will get the local news involved.

I have no idea if any of my actions will even have a dent, but I'm having a blast getting the word out about my favorite film. If nothing else we got about 100 actors to watch the film again when we're doing auditions. Many of them told us "Yeah, I rented the film last night" or "I bought a copy of the film last week." Because they hadn't seen it in ten years.

Those are what I'm trying to do, what I can do, y'know? Everyone else out there who realy wants to have the film released should try something too I think. If you can save a cancelled TV show, should be able to get Jerry perenchio to realize that there are some people who just want to see Blade Runner get it's special edition, and don't much care about the fueds.
