OK, I see, you can be a critic, but I can't is that it? You can post with attitude like "pimp my ride" but I can't?
I honestly wasn't giving you attitude I was asking you a question. I just can't believe you'd find anything to complain about in that article. It's a gift that they bought it, restored it, and now it's in a museum. It looks amazing.

Sorry. I may have been a bit defensive
Hi guys, well quite the discussion of the color. Perhaps I should have touched on that in the article. When I walked into the spray booth at Gene Winfield's I felt and said the same thing. Wow, nice paint but this is not what I remember.
Well I was instantly satisfied by both Gene and Syd Mead. Both almost spoke in unison, they explained, the color you see in the film is seen as different because the spinner was very soiled and weathered by the art department. Syd Mead explained that they chose that color because all the scenes would be shot at night, so the metallic blue would show up.
Who am I to argue, it made sense to me. A dark blue or flat blue wouldn't show up in the rain and fog etc. Later after shooting the spinner were repainted many times by the various owners ( see Bryan Ebenhoch's article) so what we remember is actually not the film so much as the photographs of the spinners after filming, and perhaps after the spinners had been on tours throughout the world.
The color of the paint was fantastic in person. Gene Winfield did a great job, and he had so little time to do it. Hopefully we will all be able to see it in the museum in Seattle. It would be nice to get a group of fans together and see the installation.
I'm just glad it was found and not tossed in the dumpster. Rightly restored by the fellow who built it. Enjoy it and I am glad you liked the article.
