This is just something my friend brought about Dr. Tyrell I couldn't really argue against it, but I don't believe its true. Anyhow, is it possible that when Roy Batty is asking Dr. Tyrell to remove the four year life span isn't it possible that Dr. Tyrell lied about not being able to do it?

Why not a liar? Is there any reason to believe that everything he says is true?

It's possible, but doubtful, and here's why.<BR><BR>He could have easily been arrogant and deceptive at the starting of the conversation, but as soon as he felt threatened by Roy, he would have succumbed and given him the life extension without a second thought, so as not to endanger his own life.

Yeah, that is true.<BR><BR>Maybe Tyrell was so extremely arrogant that he couldn't even imagine one of his creations being angered over their short life span.<BR><BR>He probably thought they should be thankful that he even made them at all!

someone I know brought up another good point. If Tyrell was lying to Rachel about her memories why couldn't he easily lie about to Roy and the universe about teh Life Span thing.<BR><BR><BR>Ponder that one?

Tyrell to me in the movie seemed to display a certain love for his creations and when he spoke to Roy in the scene in his bedroom, he had a caring tone to him. To me it seemed that if he could have, he would have loved to of helped Batty and probably would have but the whole explanation about the cells seemed to complicated to create out of thin air, even for someone like Tyrell. The reason it seems to me that he dismissed his words was that he didn't want to stay on the topic and make the mood more desperate and upset Batty.

Hi people... I'm a newbie here (but a long term lurker)...thought it was about time I started posting!<BR><BR>Tyrell a liar?... well I always thought that he was talking to Roy as a an intellectual equal (he was 'engineered' as superior to the average human, both physically and mentally, after all), so I don't think so.<BR><BR>Since the film was made, however, knowedge within genetic research has progressed greatly, and such 'modifications' could end up being easier than thought in the early eighties.

Maybe Tyrell is paranoid that if he gives Batty more life and the police get wind of this he could be shut down because control over replicants is now lessened by their extended lifespan. Might be why he lies to Roy.
