Blade Runner Director's Cut
Sunday 2nd June 21:00 - Channel 5 (uk)

The point of this thread isn't to notify people in the UK that our favourite movie is being shown this weekend.

My question is:

Even though the chances are that you own at least one or both versions of the movie and can therefore watch it any time, do you still tune into and watch the movie when it's broadcast on TV?

I often do and wondered if anyone else did and if so, why?

I often do this with other movies that I already own - if the answer is that I'm obsessed with these movies then why aren't I watching them everyday?

_________________

Richard Gunn
News and Content Manager for Bladezone
[email protected]

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2002-05-30 03:21 ]

I have the original theatrical release on VHS; however, I catch myself watching it on TV (especially on Sci-Fi) whenever it's on.

I have the original theatrical release on VHS too. Intend to buy the DC on DVD soon.
Then perhaps the Special Edition DVD.

Of course, I always use the chance to see it in TV when it it aired, but never saw DC in TV.
Even some Art Cinemas play BRDC ocassionally, so I use the chance to see it on big screen.

I have a question> I have heard that the SE DVD will be released only in US and UK. Is that really so? I am afraid it is...
I might watch it... I dunno. All I know is that, if its on Channel 5, thats bad. That means Channel 4 has lost the licence, which means that they wont reapeat thier 'On The Egde Of Blade Runner' documentary!!!

I wouldn't be surprised if 'On the Edge of Blade Runner' appears on the SE DVD...

I would be surprised if the documentary doesn't make it onto the DVD. And I would be absolutely astonished if it weren't released worldwide - there are separate release rights involved, but it would be quite ridiculous if these weren't all resolved.

As for watching it on Channel 5, I certainly won't make an effort, but if I'm working on my computer while it is on, then I might very well, just because. Despite the ad breaks...

I probably would start watching it on TV, but then I'd get frustrated at the commercials, so I'd end up watching my DVD without any interruptions.

As for the SE DVD, I say worldwide release. And if it does turn out to be just the US and UK, I would also include Japan, because the Japanese are hard core BR fans. The Japanses tend to release american movies on dvd (or high quaility vcd) that are not available in the US or UK.

I thought the ad breaks when BR was on Channel 4 were quite well placed. Channel 4 seemed to actualy like the film (they did make a kick a$$ documentary), unlikie Channel 5, who think of it as a 'Well know cult film which we bought because lot of people will watch it, right?'. Indeed.

I would equivocate it to hearing a song you like on the radio. Sure its not as good as your version because you cant stop and rewind your favorite parts, but it's sort of neat knowing many a people be watchin the movie.
