"23 Synchronicity"

Gosh...I learn something all the time! I came across this on the web.

The repeated occurrence of the number 23 as an integral part of important numbers throughout the movie was one of the first irregularities to catch my eye. Robert Anton Wilson (1988) has commented extensively on the "23 synchronicity" and its purported meanings. In BR-TDC the number 23 is cited an inordinate number of times. Some examples: the renegade replicants killed 23 people on the hijacked shuttle, the LAPD spinner vehicle is number 995 (9 + 9 + 5 = 23), Rachael's phone number is 555-7583 (7 + 5 + 8 + 3 = 23), Deckard's badge number is B26354 ([2] + 2 + 6 + 3 + 5 + 4 = 22), and J.F. Sebastian's apartment number is 46751 (4 + 6 + 7 + 5 + 1 = 23). The number 23 is representative of a man undertaking the Great Work - the Mystical Marriage of the Qabalists, or union with the Godhead. He first leaves his life of comfort and then the world at large. There is no return for one that has started on this path which is clearly representative of Deckard and the other replicants' journey.

Umberto Eco's "Foucault's Pendulum", anyone? I love that novel and recomend it highly, though it is a little too dense in some parts. Read it and you'll see how really dumb The Da Vinci Code is.

I read "the name of the rose" and loved it. I have yet to read this and hope the translation from italian is good. I like the davinci code but kept finding plot holes in it. It is a cookie cutter thriller with cool subject matter. I read a few books on the mary Magdeline "mythology" before davinci code and still find a lot of it to be facinating.
